The Power of Tehillim

November 26th, 2007

A young lady was driving to Gush Etzion and she encountered a car accident which happened a few minutes before. As she left her car, she noticed people already helping the injured but what was most shocking was a dead body covered by a white sheet. Immediately, as she was brought up to do, she took out a book of Tehillim, Psalms and started reciting them. Seeing nothing else she could do, she left the scene in tears.

Two weeks later, there is a knock on her door. A lady was standing there with a smile on her face. She said, “remember the accident two weeks ago? I was the body covered in the sheet. I was unconscious and Hashem had me seeing the scene in an out of body experience. As you recited the tehillim, the letters of the aleph bais surrounded me and I could feel them starting to draw me back in my body. I also saw you praying for me. You had left and a few minutes later, the ambulance came and did cpr on me. You saved my life with your prayers and I am here to confirm for you the power of Tehillim, prayers.”

Forgive me, but can you tell me more about this story and how you know it’s true? I really struggle with tefillah, I feel no connection, and I’m constantly searching for things to inspire me to daven. Stories like this sound beautiful, but often unrealistically ideal. I’d like to believe it…..

Please understand that it is not my intention to be argumentative and I am indeed sorry if it appears that way but I would please like to know how do you know that the above is true? And how did the lady know who was the one that recited the tehillim over her?
