Meeting Strangers for a purpose

Filed under: Current Events — Reb Moshe @ 12:20 am

I was sitting at the Kotel and a man asked me if its okay to smoke there. I said at first I am not sure and another person said, its not proper. When the other person left, I leaned over to him and told him. I answered you different because I see things in gray shades, how do i know if your smoke is not holier then the person there praying with a book. The offerings in the temple went to Heaven in smoke. He then trusted me with his secret. He came all the way from Tiberias today to pray because the doctors don’t know how to help him. He is an egged bus driver and he suddenly is blind in one eye. I told him, It is from Hashem we met, I took out my phone list and gave him a phone number of someone who will get him to the best Doctor in all of Israel who hopefully with Hashem’s help will heal his eye. (This is what happens when people travel all day, we feel more open to talk to strangers and with this, we open each others hearts and see how we are all connected.)

If you see a problem with someone, usually it means you have this same mistake in yourself that your recognizing. Fix that first (Talmud) 3. When you grow haunty and think of yourself as the best, honor runs away from you. Those who run away from pride, pride runs after them. 4. Wars & fighting is never the answer. 5. The strength of a nation is in the simple folk of the population as Chassidus teaches us. Give power back to the people. 6. The Torah teaches us to be charitable, force the banks help a person get a job before foreclosing on their home. 7. The grass isn’t greener on the other side (voting democratic this last term.) 8. First give charity to your own city before others (Talmud) Billions of dollars are sent abroad. 9. If you don’t take care of your body, your soul will also suffer.(Talmud, Rambam) No health insurance.. unhealthy people… soul is affected. 10. Jerusalem is the heart of the world, if I forget Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill. (Psalms 137

The Nikolsburg Rebbe visited Tzfat Today

Filed under: Current Events, deep reflections — Reb Moshe @ 1:34 am

I spent the afternoon with the Nikolsburg Rebbe, his sons and chassidim. Tzfat is known to have the cleanest, holiest air in all the world and being with the holy Tzaddik today made the air of Tzfat even fresher to me. I hadn’t seen my holy Rav in 6 years and it was an experience that had me speechless through most of the afternoon.
