Some say he was the greatest Tzaddik that ever lived. When you go to Meron, you are infested with a tremmendous amount of holiness. This holiness could be compared to only one place in the world. The kotel, the place where the Shechinah resides. So holy is this landmark, the place where Rabbi Shimon and his disciples are buried that I dare say, its holiness comes close to that of the Kotel. Meron sits on the mountain side accross from Tzfat. Much of the Torah from the Zohar was written in these very mountainsides surrounding both Meron and Tzfat.
